Hanging Hardware recommendations
-
Put the suction cups away!!
Stained glass is heavier than you realize. Even a well made piece has a very small chance of surviving a fall.
Suction cups pull away over time, especially with seasonal temperature changes - so do yourself and your glass a favor, and just say “no”!
-
Hooks/Nails
The recommended way to hang stained glass is with hooks hanging directly down from the window frame (if the window is inset) or screws/hooks/nails secured above the window.
You can also hang from a tension (curtain) rod in the window, but please make sure it is installed securely!
-
Permanent Fixtures
Even better - use hardware permanently installed on your window like locks and hinges.
Those are guaranteed to stay put, so your glass will be too!

So you refuse to listen to reason?
I get it. You live by your own rules and nobody is going to tell you how to live your life.
If you must use suction cups, push them into the window glass frequently, especially with any temperature changes.
Take them down regularly, clean in warm soapy water, and air dry completely before resuming use.
